Community Relations:
Dine Out Daytona Beach

The Daytona Beach Area Visitors and Convention Bureau, a not-for-profit organization uniting public and private sectors to market the Halifax (or Daytona Beach) Area as a business and vacation destination, contracted with Write Result to add a new component to its annual Thanks To You Volusia campaign: a restaurant week promotion.

Each year, the local hospitality industry thanks the community for its support and attempts to engage residents in enjoying restaurants, hotels, theme attractions and cultural events -- in the same way vacationers would -- by offering discounts, deals and incentives. For this new feature, dubbed Dine Out Daytona Beach, Write Result was to identify restaurants as candidates, recruit eight to 10 of them to participate in the September promotion and coordinate the restaurants’ participation on behalf of the bureau. We actively sought sponsorship for the promotion and helped to publicize the event by working with newspaper food editors in relevant markets. The Daytona Beach News-Journal and Black Crow became our media partners.

We had a Dine Out insert in the News-Journal and ran 30-second spots on Black Crow radio stations. We also had representatives of the participating restaurants appear on the stations' morning programs to highlight their involvement.

During Dine Out Daytona Beach, residents took part in wine tastings and food events and enjoyed $10 lunch and $20 dinner specials at area eateries, including Baleen at The Shores Resort & Spa, Bay Street Seafood Market & Deli, Billy’s Tap Room, Martini's Chophouse, the Dancing Avocado Kitchen, Doc Bales’ at The Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Walk Village, Inlet Harbor Restaurant & Marina, Mario’s, Park’s Seafood Riverside and RiverGrille on the Tomoka.

As part of the week, Bon Gourmet! hosted a wine education class and a French Flea Market, featuring a tasting of French wines and special related discounts.

The campaign helped local restaurants to boost sales during a typically slow month for them – September.

Target Audience: Local residents
