Special Events: Camp Boggy Creek Nursing Awards

In 2004, Write Result worked with Camp Boggy Creek, Florida’s camp for seriously or chronically ill children, to recognize the outstanding efforts of the camp’s volunteer nurses.

During National Nurse Appreciation Week in May, Camp Boggy Creek presented awards to eight nurses from across the state of Florida to recognize their commitment and volunteer service to the special children’s camp. Camp staff fanned out across the state to present the award at a special ceremony in the workplace of each winning nurse,  before an audience of co-workers and peers.

The Camp Boggy Creek Nurse Appreciation Award served two purposes:

  • To recognize and thank nurses who had given years of volunteer service to the camp
  • To increase awareness about the camp and the need for specialized nurse volunteers at some of the state’s biggest hospital programs.

The campaign resulted in increased awareness about the camp and an increase in volunteers, especially in critical medical needs areas such as heart, cancer and transplant.

Target Audience: Prospective volunteer nurses

Message: Camp Boggy Creek needs and appreciates its volunteers, and recognizes nurses' efforts.
